Jaxson Cello Concerto, 2026-2028

Jalayne Mitchell, cellist

Joe Jaxson, composer

The Story

Having lived with a family where fear, anxiety, and an unsafe view on life were a norm, Jalayne found her anchor, her vehicle, in music and especially, her cello. Jalayne Mitchell fosters possibility, hope, and optimism among the chaos we experience in different seasons of our lives.

The composer on this collaboration: “I’m writing this concerto as a vehicle for Jalayne. Channeling the soloist’s experience and what she’s been through will result in a performance on possibility and potential.”
